Bertram de Cipier ("Bertram the warder") is a dramatic sketch in Dutch by Arnold (Nicolaas Arnoldus Wijnstok, 1830-1878)[].

The original text

Written for the Rederijkers, it was published in Volume 4 of Poëzij voor Rederijkers by P.M. van de Made, Amsterdam, in 1862.

Performance history in South Africa

1868: Performed by Aurora II in the hall of the Liedertafel Germania, Cape Town on 10 September, with De Twee Huisknechts, of De Bedriegers Bedrogen (Arnold) as an afterpiece.
