Referred to as "’n sangspelagtige stuk" (or "musical-like piece") by the author, it was written in 1939 as an adaptation of his own dramatic oratorio Die Blom van Orleans ("The flower of Orleans") for the Bloemfontein Huguenot Festival of that year.
Published in the collection Die Meul Dreun en Ander Toneelwerk by Nasionale Pers in 1943.
