It was first performed at the Royal Court Theatre, London on 22 December 1959.
Translations and adaptations
The play was later adapted for the cinema.
Performance history in South Africa
1962: Presented by the University of Cape Town’s Speech and Drama Department at the Little Theatre in June, directed by Mavis Taylor.
