Colour Sergeant Heaven was a member of the British forces in Cape Town and a performer in, and organizer of, minstrels shows.
He is mentioned once only by F.C.L. Bosman (1980: p. 167), referred to as a "Colour Sergeant" Heaven
Though it is tempting to assume otherwise in this case, the rank of "Colour Sergeant" does not mean that Heaven was from an African corps of some kind, it is in fact a specific rank of non-commissioned officer found in several armies[1].
