Acronym: PAWE
The Performing Arts Workers' Equity was founded in 19** to replace the South African Film and Theatre Union (SAFTU) and the **. It is a small trade union and has a membership of only 365, but is affiliated to the Congress of South African Trade Unions (COSATU).
In 2007 PAWE amalgamated with MUSA (the Musicians Union of South Africa) to form CWUSA (the Creative Workers Union of South Africa). This process began in 2005 and culminated in a Launching Congress on 7-9 September 2007 in Johannesburg
