Walter Greyvenstein (194*-) is an academic, teacher, lecturer in English literature at the Johannesburg College of Education, critic, editor and co-editor of a number English play collections for use in schools.

Author of possibly the definitive study on children’s theatre in South Africa in the 19th and 20th centuries, his doctoral thesis at the Rand Afrikaans University in 1988, titled The history and development of children's theatre in English in South Africa.

Author of the collection Drama: Action and Interaction: A Collection of Plays and Activities (Academica, ).

Plays written or adapted include The Tragedy of Macbeth, a one act adaptation of the Shakespeare tragedy.
