Biography
Training
Aubrey studied Drama at the Technikon Pretoria specializing in singing and dance.
Career
Contribution to SA theatre, film, media and/or performance
He appeared in numerous Technikon productions including Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, directed by Alvon Collison.
He has worked in stage, film and television with seasoned actors like Jana Cilliers, David Dennis, Pamela Nomvete and Lindani Nkosi, among others.
Professional appearances include playing multiple roles in the musical Annie.
He played lead roles in Far From The Madding Crowd at the Natal Playhouse, the pantomime Aladdin, Rent (2007) and Soweto Story (2007).
He had roles in David Kramer's musical Orpheus in Africa in 2015, The Meeting in February 2017.
On TV he has appeared in SOS, Muvhango, the youth drama Gaz'lam, Zero Tolerance, Nomzamo, Zone 14, as Pastor Gabriel in Isidingo and has also performed in corporate shows. On film Aubrey appeared in Sid's Challenge and the Afrikaans film Ouma se Slim Kind.
Awards
In 2002 he won the FNB Vita Award for Best Performance by a New Actor for his role in the critically acclaimed Play@Risk.
He won a Fleur du Cap for his role as Orpheus McAdoo in Orpheus in Africa.
