Noted for his writings on black art and culture, and in particular for the provocative statement that “’theatre’ is not part of our [i.e. African] vocabulary” (*** in S’ketsh ****). His published poetry collections include Hurry up to It! (1975), The Blues is You in Me (1976), The Soweto I Love (1977), Children of the Earth (1983) and Selected Poems (1984).
