Freely translated as a three act play from the original German text by J. de Boer and published in Amsterdam in 1830 by M. Westerman en zoon and C. van Hulst, reprinted 1867.
Performances in South Africa
1852 Performed in Dutch as De Minnaar op den Proef, of Het Zonderlinge Tweegevecht by Door Yver Bloeit de Kunst on 12 August in the Breestraat Skouburg, Cape Town, as afterpiece to De Kluizenaar op Formentera (Von Kotzebue).
