Carte Blanche [1] is a South African investigative journalism television series. It is multi award-winning one-hour programmes that air weekly in primetime (Sundays at 19h00) on the M-Net channel. In January 2010 two spin-off series were launched, namely, Carte Blanche Consumer and Carte Blanche Medical and in 2011, a third, Carte Blanche Extra was launched, which departed from the magazine format for a more behind-the-scenes reality format. It is produced for M-Net by the independent production company Combined Artistic Productions. Carte Blanche was launched in 1988 and has since earned credibility amongst South African viewers for its investigation into corruption, consumer issues and current events.
