Daar is Pretoria (“There is Pretoria”) is a satirical play by Junior Makhoere. An Afrikaans play, consisting of satirical sketches, a cappella singing, mime and drama, about Pretoria and its people, from “totsis” in Sunnyside to a “boereorkes” and a military parade at the annual agricultural show.
Performance history in South Africa
First produced by the Mamelodi Teaterorganisasie in 1996, starring the author and Themba Ndimande, Calvin Ngcaku, and Sello Ngale. Played at the KKNK in Oudtshoorn, ATKV-Toneelfees in Pretoria, the Standard Bank National Arts Festival in Grahamstown, and the Théatre Rendezvouz in Pretoria later.
