The South African Literary Journal Ltd company launched Contrast magazine in the summer of 1960, at the instigation of Sydney Clouts . Later edited by Jack Cope. It published numerous articles on drama and theatre, as well as a number of playtexts. These include The Willing Victim by Tania van Zyl (1961), an extract from an early version of Kanna hy kô Hystoe by Adam Small (1965), Women of Sola by Tania van Zyl (1965), Cradle in the Dust by Ruth Miller (1967), A Tale of Love, Alas by David Lytton (1972), The Unwilling Fighter by Tania van Zyl (1976), , ****
Replaced by New Contrast in 1990.
