He was born in Cape Town where he grew up exposed to the rich multi-ethnic and cultural mtraditions in and around the Mother City. In the early fifties he was performing alongside such luminaries as Abdullah Ibrahim, Chris McGrgeor Dudu Pukwana and Johnny Gertze. He left South Africa in 1960 and visited Cape Town after thirty years for the first time.

Hotep Galeta (193*-) Musician.

He was born in Cape Town where he grew up exposed to the rich multi-ethnic and cultural traditions in and around the Mother City. In the early fifties he was performing alongside such luminaries as Abdullah Ibrahim, Chris McGrgeor Dudu Pukwana and Johnny Gertze. He left South Africa in 1960, spent many years in America and visited Cape Town after thirty years for the first time.

Contribution to SA theatre, film, media and/or performance

In 1992 Hotep served as Musical Director for the Volkswagen Music Active Programme under the direction of Neil McCarthy and Mavis Taylor. He was Musical Director for Poison in 1992.
