J. Nel van der Merwe (19*-) was an Afrikaans poet, travel writer and dramatist.
In 1954 he published Onder Vreemde Sterre ("Under strange/foreign stars", a book on European travels) Author of volumes of poetry entitled Van mens tot mens (1941) and Bloedrivier is wreed (1956), as well as a collection of short stories entitled Beroemde liefdesverhale (1945). He is also the author of a play entitled and a travel journal entitled Onder vreemde sterre (1954).
Wrote the plays En Sy Naam is Jannie (K.A.T., 1940), My liewe kokkennennetjie (1949)Ai, Die Liewe Martha! ("Oh, The Dear Martha!"), produced by NTO in 1957.
