Born in Soweto, married to Caiphus Semenya.
She was a member of the original cast of King Kong (1959), and went on to make her name as a pop star in the USA. Returned to settle in South Africa after thirty years in exile.
Awards, etc.
She and her husband were honoured with the South African Afro Music Awards Lifetime Achievement Awards in 2015.
