Boikie Mohlamme (1930-2014) was an artist and performer, and arts activist.

Born in Lefurutshane in the Groot Marico district of the Transvaal (now Northwest Province), Marrried to actress Roseline Morapedi, and the copuple had three children.

He became a leading figure and mentor of talent in Soweto theatre, as well as film and TV. In the 1970s he was one of the trio of successful producers of indiginous theatre productions, alongside Gibson Kente and Sam Manghwane. He later moved into TV and film as well.

As a director he did productions of Mohlomola

For TV he directed Mmalonya

As a television performer he appeared in a number of SABC 2 TV dramas.

Also appeared in four films, Final Cut (1989), Warriors from Hell (1990), Taxi to Soweto (1991) and 'n Potvol Winter (1992)

He was a founder member of Performing Arts Workers' Equity (PAWE), which became the Creative Workers' Union of South Africa (CWUSA) in 2007.


Just before his death in 2014, he was involved as a mediatior between the producers and actors of the SABC TV soap Generations.
