The Enquiry is a 1950 play by English playwright Charlotte Hastings (19**- ) [1].

Subject

A complex story concerning Kate, a prisoner sentenced for killing her very sick child. After a vicious attack from another prisoner Kate attempts suicide. The prison authorities investigate, only to discover that the attacker was a lesbian, motivated by jealousy of Kate’s friendship with another woman. The investigation also brings to light new evidence suggesting that Kate is not a killer, but is shielding the man she loves. Published by Samuel French, 1972.
