Fred Hagemann (19**-) is a dancer, choreographer, director, educationist and movement lecturer.
Born Frederic Hagemann, he studied at the University of Natal’s Department of Drama in Durban. Also studied at the Marcel Marceau School of Mime in France. Became lecturer in movement at the School of Speech and Drama, University of the Witwatersrand in 19*** and in 19** became chair of the Department.
An influential teacher and theorist, he completed a doctorate on*** in 19**. Made Associate Prof in 19**.
In 2003, after his retirement from WITS, appointed as interim head of Drama at the University of Pretoria.
He also offered mime courses at the National Arts Festival, Grahamstown.
