Das Glas Wasser ("The glass of water") is a German comedy in two acts by Andreas Joseph von Guttenberg (1770 - 1817)[1].

The original text
Published in Volume 2 of Gezellige schouwburg, of Verzameling van tooneel- en blyspelen (Leipzig:Stage, 1803).
Translations and adaptations
Translated into Dutch as Het Glas Water, a comedy in two acts, and published in Amsterdam by Jan Dóll, 1802. (Not to be confused with Het Glas Water, of Die Uitwerkingen en De Beweegredenen, a Dutch translation of Eugene Scribé's 1840 five-act comedy, Le Verre d’Eau. Les Effets et Les Causes.)
Performance history in South Africa
1826: Performed in Dutch as Het Glas Water on 28 October, 1826 by Door Yver Vruchtbaar, with De Broeders ("The Brothers") (Von Kotzebue).
1831: Was to have been performed in Dutch as Het Glas Water on 17 July by Tot Nut en Vermaak, with Eleonore van Rosalba, of De Puinhoopen van Paluzzi (Pujos and Dabaytua), but was replaced at the last minute by 't Zal Laat Worden (Meyer).
1831: Performed by Tot Nut en Vermaak on 21 August, as afterpiece to De Man in Drie Gedaanten, of De Balling (Zschokke/Pixérécourt).
