A much shortened, adapted and totally rewritten 3 act version called ** by René-Charles Guilbert de Pixérécourt, was translated into [[Dutch]] as ''[[De Man in Drie Gedaanten, of De Balling]]'' and performed simultaneously in Amsterdam with the French version in Paris.
