Heidram is a theatre company based in Heidedal, Bloemfontein. The name is an acronym for the full name: Heidedal Drama Group
Not to be confused with the Heidal Drama Organisation in Heidelberg, Western Cape.
The company
Founded in 1981 by playwright/director Abraham Jansen, assisted by Maria de Koker, utilizing the Henry Brookes Community Hall in Heidedal for offices and performing in a variety of township halls, before later utilizing the Bloemfontein Civic Theatre and the Sand Du Plessis Theatre.
Among their award-winning productions are Dit laat mens dink (“It makes one think”) and Vumani Bo! Siyavuma! (“Do you believe it? Yes, I believe it!”) They also produced a play called Hanskind van die Bos, written by and directed Abraham Jansen, based on Daleen Matthee's novel Fiela se Kind (“Fiela’s Child”).
The company is restricted to 14 part-time members, and they do everything from sets to performing and marketing.
