The original text
A tale about a woman left behind when her husband leaves to fight in the Border War during the liberation struggle. The irony is that he supports the enemy, therefore he is a traitor.
The novel was published to acclaim under the pseudonym "Lettie Viljoen" by Taurus Uitgewers in 1984.
Translations and adaptations
In 1986 the novel was adapted for the stage by Barney Simon and Christo Leach.
Performance history in South Africa
1986: Directed by Barney Simon for the Market Theatre at the Laager, opening 6 August 1986 starring Aletta Bezuidenhout. Design by Patrick Curtis.
