Training
She graduated from the University of Cape Town with a Performer's Diploma in drama and a B.A. in the mid-1990s.
Contribution to SA theatre, film, media and/or performance
She was seen as Bianca in The Taming of the Shrew at Maynardville in 1996.
Amanda Lane won fame for her role in Popcorn (1998). She has created various works including, Lane and Abel, Spookasem and recently co- produced One Night Stand, a series of one man plays at the Wits Theatre.
Other theatre credits include The Crucible, Molly Sweeney, Talk Radio, The Snakebird, Closer.
Her film credits include Heartspace and Mandela and De Klerk in which she played alongside Michael Cain and Sydney Poitier.
She directed the film Confessions of a Ganbler.
Awards, etc
Received the FNB Vita Award for Best Actress for her role in Popcorn.
