Construction
The Ettienne Rousseau Theatre, Sasolburg Civic Centre Complex is a multi-purpose theatre with excellent acoustical properties, built with sponsorship from the SASOL petroleum company. The continental-style main auditoriurn provides seating for 157 people. The orchestra pit accomodates 40 but can also be converted into an elongated front stage. There are 2 side stages, computerized lighting and a foyer with standing room for 450.
Management
The theatre was run for the city council by PACOFS from 197*-19**. Used for professional and amateur productions, art exhibitions and puppet theatre also thrived at the venue.
Productions
The first official performance was a p[rodcution of I1 Trovatore (Verdi) by PACOFS?* on October 21 1975. [AW]
