The original text

A controversial play about shadowy characters that frequent a Hillbrow brothel owned by Mubara, a Nigerian immigrant.

According to Grootboom, the play was developed at the Mmabana Arts Culture and Sports Foundation (formerly known as The North West Arts Council), in January 2000, and was co-written by Mpumelelo Paul Grootboom and with Mothusi Mokoto and directed by Grootboom

It was then developed further for the National Arts Festival Fringe in June of the same year. The text, credited to Mpumelelo Paul Grootboom and Mothusi Mokoto, was published in the volume Southern African Plays Collection (Pan African Publishers Ltd., 2018)
