''Die Dame met die Kamelias'', translated from the original French play ''[[La Dame aux Camélias]]'', was directed by the French director René Clermont during the fifth Republic Festival in 1966 for its performance in the [[Hofmeyr Theatre]]. [[Berdine Grünewald]] played the ill-fated heroine and [[Johann Nell]] and [[André Walters]] (as Armand Duval) played the other leading roles. The play also visited Stellenbosch, Worcester and Bellville. According to the programme Wilhelmien van Zyl did the translation but Clermont, [[Nerina Ferreira]], [[Laurie van der Merwe]] and [[Berdine Grünewald]] did a lot of work on the script.
