It commenced trading in March 1996 with a total of two staff members. By 2010 the company employed over 80 full-time employees and over 425 contracted facilitators who service the private sector and government departments alike.
In 2002 Media Works joined forces with the Community Arts Project to found the Arts and Media Access Centre in Cape Town.
