+ | Hugely prolific author of religious-didactic and/or sentimentally romantic plays in [[Afrikaans]] for young people. Began his involvement with theatre in 1959 when he started presenting plays with Sunday School children. In 1960 founded the interdenominational [[Youth Crusaders]], which in 1971 became [[Alpha Omega]]. For many years he also directed his own plays, acting in them as well as being the compére of cultural evenings. According to Smith (1990), Jacobs says that he tries to elevate his audiences, and refers to some of his works as "preek-in-aksie" ("preaching-in-action"). Biography
Contribution to SA theatre, film, media and/or performance
Hugely prolific author of religious-didactic and/or sentimentally romantic plays in Afrikaans for young people.
