HERTZBERG, Lily (19**-) Puppeteer. ** As one of South Africa’s most productive puppeteers she translated and adapted many European texts.  She founded The [[Loft Puppet Theatre]] in 1963 with which she did i.a. **. In 1972 she founded the [[Puppet Space]] in [[Space Theatre|The Space]] Theatre, Cape Town, doing an adaptation of ''[[Hansel and Gretel]]'', ''[[The Lonely Giant]]'' and ''[[Rebirth of an Ostrich]]'', and directing a programme consisting of three plays entitled ''[[Three Plays in Light and Shadow]]''. *  In 1969 she became South Africa’s representative at [[UNIMA]].  She is the author of Puppetry for young and old which includes ''[[The Bewitched Tree]]'' which was performed at the International Puppet Festival in Charlesville-Mézièrres (France) in 1972.  In 19** she left South Africa to settle in London (UK).
