Clara is a musical play by Riana Scheepers (1957-).

The original text

Utilizing the music of Clara Schumann, Robert Schumann and Johannes Brahms, the piece tells the remarkable story of the life of passion, tragedy and above all endurance of the composer/pianist Clara Schumann.

Performance history in South Africa

2023: Supported by NATi and Hessequa Harmonie and produced by Niël Rademan Produksies, the piece was first performed at the Stellenbosch University Conservatorium 13-15 October, 2023. Directed by Niël Rademan with actress Carla Smith and pianist Nina Schumann both playing "Clara". Set design and costumes Lindi-Heila Smit.
