According to the WikiProject Women in Red (WiR)[1], Eva Noel Harvey was "the first South African to write a grand opera"·
Contribution to SA theatre, film, media and/or performance
Harvey composed several operas including:
- Yugao (1967)
- Esther (1969)
- Ruth and Naomi (1969)
