He wrote English Playwriting in South Africa 1900-1950: A Survey (Unpublished D.Ed. Thesis: University of Pretoria, 1969) and was head of the Department of Drama at the University of the Orange Free State from 1969 to 198*.

He translated the play Ladies in Retirement into Afrikaans, entitled Moord in Mooihawe.

He had roles in Die Hekse van Salem (1982), Die Stryd.

He directed Die Vroue van Troje (1972), a production in Afrikaans of Hamlet (1983), Aku Vang 'n Ster (1986) and Die Waterwyser (1991).

He wrote theatre reviews for Die Volksblad.
