Die Invloed (“The influence”) is a sketch by Anna-Marie de Bruyn. A stage adaptation of an eponymous short story by Pirow Bekker (1935-2025).

The original story
Published in various collections of Bekker's work, it is a tragic and symbolically laden story about societal pressure and two young people who defy their parents and the dangers of the sea for their love.
