The play had its première at the Grahamstown Festival presented by Bold Productions in July 1989, directed by the author and starring Nico Liebenberg as Adriaan, Bruce Fields as Daantjie, Wilna Snyman (Fransie, the mother), Eghard van der Hoven (Christiaan, the father), Gert van Niekerk (Gerhard), Embeth Davidtz (Antoinette).
This production was subsequently presented by PACT, PACOFS, NAPAC and CAPAB at various venues in the country with some changes in the cast, e.g. with the inclusion of Frans Kalp, Albert Maritz and Kim de Beer in the place of Liebenberg and Davidtz.
