Biography
Born Karen-Christine Meiring in Pretoria , but generally known as Kabous Meiring, she is the daughter of journalist Martie Meiring and architect Hannes Meiring.
She studied drama at the University of Stellenbosch, completing a B.Dram in 1998 and was a Student Representative Council member for Culture in 1999.
Contribution to SA theatre, film, media and/or performance
Her career began as presenter for the television program Oulap se rooi, and radio work as presenter of Vloerplan and RSG-kuns. Since then she has had a number of positions as presenter for a range of programmes on MNet and KykNet, including Prontuit, Varstrap, Dagbreek, Megaboere.
She has also worked as an advertising coordinator at NB Publishers,
Her directing career started when she was invited by Life in a Bulb to write and direct a short film, Drukkersbloed (2012) for the Silver Screen Festival. Since she has also worked on other films, among them Vlees van my vlees (as Assistant Director, 2016).
