Mary Kockott directed a number of productions for the East London and Queenstown theatre communities (such as East London Light Operatic Society and the Queenstown Theatrical Society) including Showboat, White Horse Inn, No, No, Nanette, Oklahoma! and The Student Prince.
As an actress, she appeared in several productions, including Something's Afoot (1981) for the Dramatic Society of East London and White Horse Inn, Oklahoma!, The Student Prince, Anything Goes and Guys and Dolls for Queenstown Theatrical Society.
