Bafana Republic was the original title of a satirical play by Mike van Graan (2007). This became the generic name of a series of four satirical plays written by Van Graan and produced by MVG Productions.
The series
Using South African football as metaphor, the plays offer a satirical look at life in South Africa. The title of the original play was changed to fit in with the series, which consists of:
Bafana Republic 1 (2007)
Bafana Republic 2: Extra Time (2008)
Bafana Republic 3: Penalty Shootout (2009)
Bafana Republic 4: Final Whistle (2010)
Banyana Republic (2011)
