The Dhlomo Theatre is a theatre venue in Johannesburg, situated a hundred yards from the Market Theatre, founded by anti-apartheid activist Benjy Francis in 1983.

Named after the influential academic and playwright H.I.E. Dhlomo (Herbert Dhlomo), the venue opened 21 March 1983 with Night of the Long Wake by Dukuza ka Macu.

It had a mission to provide an African centred approach to theatre.

Other plays put on there include The Trial of Dedan Kimathi, New Song

It later evolved into the Herbert Dhlomo Theatre Centre, situated in the Afrika Cultural Centre, Newton Johannesburg, with its own theatre company, the Dhlomo Theatre Company.
