The original text

Described by Dramatists Play Service[2] as a "brightly witty, trenchantly observant contemporary comedy", the play deals with the post-college careers (and dilemmas) of two former classmates: Janie Blumberg (a short, slightly plump would-be writer) and named , and Harriet Cornwall, her tall, thin, gorgeous WASP friend, Harriet Cornwall. Both are struggling to escape from lingering parental domination and to establish their own lives and identities.

First performed in 1981, the acting edition of the text first published by Dramatists Play Service in 1984.

Performance history in South Africa

1985: Directed by Janice Honeyman for Pieter Toerien, presented at the André Huguenet Theatre and the Baxter Theatre in 1985. Cast: Kathy-Jo Ross, Gaynor Young, Richard Rawstorne, Judy Page, Annabel Linder, Terry Lester, Bruce Millar, Peter Krummeck. Set designed by Andrew Botha. Lighting by Jannie Swanepoel.
