The original text
The production was developed as part of ASSITEJ SA and Theatre Arts Admin Collective's Inspiring a Generation project. The ensemble piece sees four actors play multiple characters and tell a story above and under the sea, about Jay and his oupa who have a whale of an adventure in search of the mythical kraken.

Performance history in South Africa
2013: Presented at the Intimate Theatre in April, and at the National Arts Festival in June/July, directed by Kim Kerfoot, with Jason Potgieter, Stefan Erasmus, Dylan Esbach and Shaun Acker. The production won a Standard Bank Ovation Award at the National Arts Festival.
2014: Presented with the same cast in the City Hall at the Cape Town Fringe Festival in October.
