The original text
A play dealing with the 1956 trial of Dedan Kimathi, the leader of the Mau Mau rebellion against the British colonial regime in Kenya. Kimathi was hanged in 1957.
The play was first performed in 1974, published in 1976 in London and Nairobi by Heinemann.

1983?: Performed at the Dhlomo Theatre in Johannesburg, directed by Benjy Francis, with a cast that included Thami Cele,
