Forbidden Fruits, a bawdy play looking at "sex through the ages" by Janice Honeyman.

Not to be confused with any one of the many plays titled Forbidden Fruit that have been written and produced over the years.

The Original Text

Devised play based on tales from Ovid, Balzac, Stubbs, Boccaccio, Rabelais, Chaucer, Shakespea and the Arabian Nights.

Performance history in South Africa

1983: Presented by CAPAB, devised and directed by Janice Honeyman, it was the opening production at the Arena Theatre, a new venue at the Nico Malan Theatre Centre, Cape Town, on 4 August 1983. The cast were Diane Wilson, Jennie Reznek, Lynita Crofford, Libby Daniels, Terry Greyvenstein, Greg Latter, Chris van Niekerk, Phillip Boucher, Jimmy Nell, Richard Farmer, Nicky Rebelo. Music by Debbie Lan, design by Penny Simpson, lighting by Malcolm Hurrell.

1983: A new production by Janice Honeyman with Vanessa Cooke, Jeremy Crutchley, Mike Huff, Danny Keogh, Amanda Strydom and Annelisa Weiland was staged at Upstairs at the Market in 1983/84. Music by Kevin Feather.

1984 - A new production directed by Robert Whitehead (billed as Forbidden Fruits II) performed at Upstairs at the Market with Roz Monat, Neil McCarthy, Greg Latter, Adrienne Pearce, Matthew Krouse, Miriam Munitz.
