The Best of Dorothy Parker is a stage presentation based on the life and work of Dorothy Parker(1893-1967)[1]

The original text

The title and - probably the text - appear to have been derived from the volume The Best of Dorothy Parker, a collection of Dorothy Parker's poems, stories and sketches published originally published by Methuen & Co. in 1952.[2]

A new edition by The Folio Society published in 1995 (First Impression No.830)[3] and again in 2022, the latter illustrated by Helen Smithson and introduced by Mervyn Horder.[4]

Performance history in South Africa

1967: Performed by the CAPAB English Company as a tribute in the year of her death. The text possibly compiled and dramatised by the director and company.
