Op Pad na Acapulco ("On the Road to Acapulco") is an Afrikaans radio play by Chris Barnard (1939-2015).
Contents
The original text
A radio drama about Simon and his wife, Mia, who are wandering through a war-torn country on their way to Acapulco, a symbol of Paradise (or Utopia). This is unattainable, and the are continually exposed to violence, yet hope keeps them going.
The play was submitted as an entry for the prestigious international Italia-prize. The text published by Tafelberg Publishers Ltd in 1975.
Translations and adaptations
The play has also been translated into English, French and Serbian.
