The original text

Originally written in German as Der Rebell (subtitled: Eine geschichtliche Tragödie), it is an historical verse play in five acts, described as a "Ritterstück" ("play of chivalry") about Kaiser Rudolf and his persuit of the robber barons.

Translations and adaptations

Translated into Afrikaans as Die Rebel (and described as "'n Historiese Treurspel") by H. Greeff). The Afrikaans text published in soft cover by Nasionale Pers Beperk, 1909, and again in 1923.)
