The Afrikaanse Studiekring (acronym ASK) was a student kommittee within the Department of Afrikaans and Dutch at the University of Stellenbosch.

Later renamed VER[r]AS (standing for the Vereniging vir Afrikaansstudente).

The committee's activities include:

Publishing Penseel, a literary journal of new writing (founded by Danie Botha in 1969/70).

Mounting student productions of plays, such as Die Duiwel, Sy Handlanger en die Drie Ligtekooie ("The Devil, his helper and the three prostitutes") by Marlene van Niekerk in 1978.
