Orange Blossom is a one-act play by Philip Johnson (1900 - 1984)[1]
Not to be confused with the musical Orange Blossoms by Fred de Gresac and Victor Herbert.
Contents
The original text
Subtitled "A Cautionary Comedy in One Act", the play is about a reluctant bride.
The text was first published in 1943 by Samuel French and subsequently included in the collection The Best one-act Plays of 1942-43 edited by J.W. Marriott, published by Harrap in 1944.
Translations and adaptations
Translated into Afrikaans Lemoenbloeisels ("orange blossoms") and adapted as a radio drama by Laetitia Terblanche, and broadcast by Afrikaans Service of the SABC on 3 November, 1965.
Text was once more broadcast on the Afrikaans Service of the SABC on 2 January, 1980, directed by Leon van Nierop.
