Hoe Oom Jacob Hoogvliegt Gefopt Werd ("how uncle Jacob Highflier was bluffed") is a one act comedy by Melt Brink (1842-1925).

The original text
Described as a "blyspel in een bedryf vir 6 here en 1 dame" ("a comedy in one act for six gentlemen and a lady"), the piece was originally written in a version of Cape Dutch and published as Hoe oom Jacob Hoogvlieg gefopt werd in Pretoria by the ZA Nieuwsblad Maatschappij in 1904.
Translations and adaptations
The original text was was followed by two other versions, in which the language was updated, now appearing under the titles Hoe oom Jacob Hoogvlieg gefop werd (De Bussy, Pretoria, 1916) and Hoe oom Jacob Hoogvlieg gefop werd (HAUM, Cape Town, 1916) and Hoe oom Jakob Hoogvlieg gefop werd.
