He was the co-founder, with Madame Bowmer, and leader of a company generally referred to as The Bowmers, that performed occasionally in Cape Town in the years 1863-1864. The company also included J.F. Finlayson, Miss Whitfield, and a Mr Schilling as pianist. He and his wife were apparently also the creators of a "Dialogue Entertainment", in Two Parts, entitled Retaliation, or Tit for Tat
