The original text
The only references found to date for the a play by this name appear in the Dutch publishers' journal Niewsblad voor den Boekhandel(1875, p. 149), in F.C.L. Bosman (1980, p. 472) and in Ingmar Koch's article (1997), citing Bosman.
Possibly based on (or a Dutch translation of) an unknown French original, perhaps a forgotten work by Joseph Bouchardy ()[1] , since an author named "P. Regland" is also associated with Bouchardy on the website VIAF[2].

1879: Performed in Dutch as De Gebochelde by Aurora II in the Athenaeum Hall, Cape Town, on 28 August, with Bergen en Dalen (Benedix).
1879: Performed in Dutch as De Gebochelde, of De Moord in de Slotgracht van Tayhis by Aurora II, on 16 September in the Athenaeum Hall, with Niet of Graag (Andersen).
